About Carrot Juice

This delicious, homemade carrot juice with celery makes waking up easier. This healthy juice is one of my favourites due to its bright orange colour and sweet, earthy taste. Carrots and celery are part of the French cooking trinity known as mirepoix, so they make great kitchen partners.

You can juice carrots alone, but we like celery’s earthy flavour and anti-inflammatory benefits. This recipe post shows how to make carrot juice with a juicer and a blender. I wanted to make sure you could make this healthy goodness at home with any equipment!


We like our carrot juice simple, but there are many tasty ways to customise it. You can mix and match these additions:

Lemon: juice brightens celery carrot juice.

Ginger: Carrots and ginger are tantalisingly spicy. While fresh ginger root is best, powdered ginger can be used if needed. Just remember that ground ginger particles settle faster than juiced ginger root.

Black Pepper: Adding black pepper to juice may seem odd, but it’s delicious. Grind your own pepper for best flavour.

Turmeric: The spice turmeric This spicy, brightly coloured root adds antioxidants and anti-inflammatory power to your juice.

Oranges or Grapefruit: Add oranges or grapefruit for a sweeter carrot juice! They complement carrots with their bright, tangy, and sweet flavour.

Apples or Pears: Apples or pears add sweetness to juice too.

Cucumber: If you want a savoury application but don’t like celery, cucumber adds a fresh flavour.

Carrot juice has many health benefits, which is why we love it! Carrots are rich in potassium, vitamin A, and vitamin C.

  • Improved heart health
  • Liver protection
  • Improved skin tone

Making Carrot Juice

Carrot juice is easy to make. I provide two juice-making methods below. Prep your carrots first.

Prep Carrots

  • Rinse the carrots well, dry them with a clean kitchen towel or let them drain, and peel them.
  • Carrots are rinsed for 5 minutes in water with baking soda and apple cider vinegar to remove mud and pesticides.
  • I then soak them in plain water for 2 minutes after draining. I then thoroughly rinse them in running water to remove any dirt or mud.
  • I add celery to my carrot juice recipe because carrot and celery taste great together. Celery can be omitted. Celery should be rinsed and dried.
  • After drying and chopping, I store carrots and celery in vegetable bags in the fridge’s crisper drawer.
  • I can easily remove them in the morning to make carrot juice.

Blender Method

  • Blend carrots and celery. Add ¼ to ½ cup water, or as needed. Water thins juice, so avoid adding too much.
  • Only add water as needed to blend or mixer-grind carrots.
  • Blend until smooth and no carrot chunks remain.
  • Put a bowl under a fine mesh strainer. Pour the blended carrot mixture into the strainer to extract juice.
  • Press the fibre pulp everywhere to get the most juice. Serve the bowl’s carrot juice immediately.

Tips and Tricks

  • Making your own juice is easy and healthier than store-bought.
  • You ask why? Because vegetable and fruit juices are best consumed right away to maximise nutrients.
  • I’ve learned these little tricks to make life easier:
  • At least the night before making juice, prep your fruits and vegetables. Simply juice or blend them in the morning!
  • Avoid pulp waste! Make fritters or vegetable broth from carrot and celery pulp. You can avoid straining the broth by wrapping the pulp in cheesecloth.
  • Try adding carrot and orange pulp to muffins, waffles, or granola if you’re using only sweet options.
  • For best flavour, use young, tender carrots.
    Soak carrots before juicing. This makes them softer and removes dirt and mud.
