5 best nail polish brands of 2023

The nail polish industry boomed. From a few brands to countless options. In addition to classic brands, many new drugstore, indie, niche, and designer lines are entering the polish market. Shade, texture, formula, and brush vary vastly.

Essie

We have never visited a salon without this polish brand, which pro manicurists, beauty editors, and consumers need. Hundreds of shades and new lines and formulas have been released since 1981.

OPI

Other 1981 Polish pioneers include OPI. OPI is a play on dental company Odontorium Products, Inc. We love the line's high-performing lacquer formula and constant release of new shade collections with clever names that make us wish we named nail polish.

JINSoon

Beauty editors love this polish line almost as much as the brand's New York City nail salons. Celebrity manicurist Jin Soon Choi created the 10-free formulas in 2012 using high-tech polymers for long-wear and shine.

Tenoverten

Since its start, this New York City salon chain has focused on cleanliness. Traditional polish is available at salons, not dips, gels, or acrylics. Their products, which include great nail care and a concise colour palette, reflect that philosophy.

Sally Hansen

Elle says her other favourite is a mass-market drugstore nail brand. Sally Hansen founded the US's top nail brand in 1946. She was real. It started with two nail products; now there are over 300 shades, treatments, tools, and more.
