The 6 gaming trends for 2024 that will shake things up

Nintendo Switch 2 unveiled

At press time, Nintendo had not confirmed the existence of the Switch 2, or whatever the successor to its best-selling Switch machine will be called.

Xbox fights back

Microsoft has trailed Sony in console sales since the Xbox One's 2013 launch. The business has been acquiring studios left and right, culminating in the $68.7 billion buyout of Activision Blizzard in 2023, and we may see the results of that strategy in 2024.

Meta Quest 3 rules the VR roost

Mixed reality makes a splash for Apple

Mixed reality will likely be discussed in March 2024 when the Apple Vision Pro launches. It's unclear which games will use the tech at launch, as Apple has only revealed approximately 100 Apple Arcade titles.

Multiplayer VR innovation

VR systems will likely survive on multiplayer games. With millions of daily users, Gorilla Tag, where players drag one other with their hands, has become an unexpected hit.

Big-budget mobile ports dry up
