Making Orange Juice: A Beginner’s Guide: There are three different ways to make fresh orange juice at home. This sugar-free orange juice is great on its own or mixed with other juices. It only has one ingredient and is full of healthy vitamins.

It might be a little more work to make freshly squeezed orange juice than to buy a box, but the taste and freshness of the juice you make yourself are unmatched. It’s fruity and sweet, and it’s much sweeter than store-bought orange juice made from concentrate. It also doesn’t have any extra sugars or other “nasty” things added to it.

In addition, you can pick between orange juice with pulp and orange juice without pulp when you make it at home. On top of that, it is healthy and full of vitamins. When it’s fresh from the fruit, sugar-free orange juice tastes the best!

Oranges are good for your health in a number of important ways. Most people know that this sour fruit is full of Vitamin C. As it turns out, a medium cup of orange juice gives you almost all of the vitamin C you need each day. It does, however, have other vitamins and minerals in it, such as iron, calcium, folate, and vitamin A.

  • Vitamin C is good for our immune systems and helps our gums stay healthy, wounds heal, and bones grow (Source).
  • Along the same lines, potassium lowers the risk of heart disease, stroke, and bone loss. It also keeps blood pressure in check and lowers the chance of getting kidney stones.
  • OJ is one of the best natural sources of folate, which is important for pregnant women because it lowers the risk of birth defects.
  • Even better, orange juice has a lot of antioxidants, which fight harmful free radicals, protect against a number of chronic diseases, and reduce inflammation.
  • In fact, the natural sugars in orange juice (or any fruit juice) are one of the only bad things about drinking a lot of it.
  • Anyway, that’s why I make my own orange juice once or twice a week and freeze the rest to use in smoothies later or in smaller amounts.

How to make citrus juice of oranges

That has a juicer 

  • To get the oranges ready, peel them first. Slice them up so they fit through the chute of your juicer.
  • As you put one into the juicer’s chute at a time, they’ll be processed.

With a mixing tool

  • If you’re not going to strain the juice, you can peel the oranges and take out and throw away the seeds.
  • Place the orange pieces in a blender. If you need to, you can add a little water (1/4 cup should be enough to keep it from tasting too watery).
  • Blend until the mixture is juicy and pulpy. The pulpy juice should then be strained through a sieve or nut milk bag. If you like orange juice with pulp (it has more nutrients), you can leave it as is.

There is a handheld juicer:

  • We probably don’t need to say much more about this. In order to get as much juice as possible from the fruit, cut it in half, put it over the juicer, press down, and squeeze while turning it back and forth.
  • After squeezing the juice out of the orange, just spoon some pulp right out of the rest of the orange and add it to your glass.

Storage ways: 

  • The most nutrients are found in freshly squeezed orange juice when it is drunk right away.
  • But you can keep any leftovers in the fridge for up to three days in a glass container that won’t let air in.

What to with pulp that you don’t need

  • You can also freeze orange pulp in an ice cube tray and use it later in smoothies, soups, or baked goods.
  • The pulp can also be composted instead.

What do you do the extra peel

  • Some of the skin can be zest to add to food or to teas, lemonades, or even sugar to make them taste better.
  • You could also make candied orange peel or orange candles with the halves if they are still in good shape.
